Stopping Food Waste at the Source

Stopping Food Waste at the Source

It was a crisp fall day, and I found myself wandering amongst the aisles of a local farmer's market, marveling at the abundance of fruits and vegetables on display. It was a thing of beauty - the bright colors and array of textures that mother earth had gifted us.

But as I perused the booths, I began to feel a sense of sadness. It was hard to ignore the fact that much of the produce would never make it to the tables of those in need. Instead, it would end up in the landfill, contributing to the already catastrophic issue of food waste.

Food waste is a tragedy that plagues our planet. As a society, we've become so focused on the end product, the perfectly manicured vegetables and abundant spreads on our tables, that we've lost sight of the journey to get there.

When we throw away food, we are not just squandering a resource – we are wasting energy, money, and time. We are discarding what makes us human – our need for nourishment, for sustenance, and for connection to the planet we call home.

It's easy to forget that we are merely passengers on this Earth, and it's our responsibility to take care of it. Every piece of food that is wasted contributes to our environmental crisis, and it's time to take action.

We need to shift our focus from the end goal to the journey. We need to appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into each piece of food we consume. We need to acknowledge the interconnectedness of all things and act as stewards of the planet.

At Nagual, we are committed to this vision. While a Nagual won't stop food waste at the source, it can do the next best thing by turning waste into a valuable resource. We believe that by working together and focusing on the journey, we can create a more sustainable, equitable future for all.

Let's make sure that in the journey of our lives, we treat the planet as our companion, not our enemy. Let's embrace the beauty and wonder of the Earth and do our part to protect it from the scourge of food waste.
